news on the radio

The earliest birthday greeting came from a friend I made some summers back when I used to chat at IRC. It was through a song.

Outside in the hall there's a catfight
It's well after midnight
I guess I'll be allright
I'm laid out on the floor
Drunk and ppor
How much longer how much more

Rock me to sleep
Strong and deep
The screaming cats they give me the creep
But aside from all that I feel no pain
Staring up at the ceiling stains
...neon in the window
...sirens far away
...news on the radio happy birthday happy birthday
happy birthday

They're at it again next door
This whole floor I swear
They're out to drive me crazy
Not right now I'm high as a cloud I'm soft and
gray and lazy
...neon in the window
...sirens far away
...news on the radio happy birthday happy birthday
happy birthday

Fly me
Out the window
Somewhere far away
Singing on the radio

I've never actually heard that song. In fact, I do not even know who sang that but Google tells me it's Concrete Blonde who did. It does not seem to be a very happy song despite the title "Happy Birthday". But it's nice to be remembered. Or maybe I have to thank Friendster for that.

Why I get sick at the most inopportuned times is beyond me. Just after the last of the Christmas gifts has been opened and the last of the Christmas food has been eaten, my nose runs, my throat hurts, my eyes water, and my chest feels like New Year's Eve. I sound like I have firecrackers in my lungs eveytime I cough. Either that or I sound like Smeagol. *Gollum Gollum*

Three things that made my (and the other Cristobal kids') day:

1. Tolkien: The Illustrated Encyclopedia by David Day
2. Urgent 2nd Class: Creating Curious Collage, Dubious Documents, And Other Art From Ephemera by Nick Bantock
3. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
